Water Heater Program
Effective July 1, 2005 Parke County REMC is no longer providing or stocking water heaters.
- Parke County REMC will give a bill credit of $70 (with proof of purchase of Energy Efficient Water Heater) if replacing an electric water heater.
- Parke County REMC will give a bill credit of $125 (with proof of purchase of Energy Efficient Water Heater) if converting from a gas to a electric water heater or new home or business construction.
- Parke County REMC still carries thermostats and elements to be provided at no charge to our members.
- Parke County REMC offers maintenance at the the price of $75 for the trip charge, parts listed below are supplied at no charge. This service is available during the normal workdays of Monday thru Friday during the hours of
Parts and Service provided:
- Element, Thermostat, Anode Plug, Pressure Relief Valve, 30 amp Buss Fuse, 30 amp Cartridge Fuse, Replace existing Load Control Switch, Re-hook existing Load Control Switch, Install a new Load Control Switch, Fill Tube
Not Provided:
- Installation of Water Heater, Replacement of Anode Rod, Replacement of Fill Tube, Replacement of Drain Valve, Replacement of Pressure Relief Valve, or any type of Plumbing
To qualify for a Bill Credit, you must be a member of the REMC, and meet the following requirements:

New home or business construction

Replace with a Energy Efficient Water Heater

Provide proof of purchase of the Energy Efficient Water Heater

A full time residency or business

Agree to the Water Heater contract allowing Parke County REMC to install a Load Management Switch if required.
The REMC may call within 2 weeks from the time the Water Heater contract was signed to schedule a visit to the location provided to confirm the installation of the new water heater.
